DURELL GREEN

chaplain, associate director

• DURELL is a community advocate born in Tacoma, Washington. Feeling rejected by society, he quickly accepted the invitation into the streets. County jails and prison cells were his next stops. Durell finally began his restorative work volunteering for a faith-based program in his community. In serving God and his community, he found his purpose. Durell feels called to proclaim the gospel and transforming power of Christ as the answer to those who are in the same lifestyle he was saved from. Durell lives with his wife in the Seattle area.

JON ABE

chaplain, ministry director

• During Jon’s seminary PRocess, he sensed a call to ministry in urban settings. He got connected to Urban Impact in 2004 as a volunteer and joined their staff on 2005. In 2009, Jon shifted his role with UI to UNLOCKED. “I know God is behind all this because I never thought I would be a Mentor to youth, especially youth who have been incarcerated! But I love this calling and love our youth so much." He lives with his wife and young children in South Seattle. Jon misses his hometown—Pearl City, HAWAI’I—a lot, but is thankful to be in Seattle.

SCOTT HALL

chaplain, associate director

• Raised in Oakland, California, Scott grew up as a white kid who lived on the wealthy side of town, but was always aware of racial divisions. He didn't know what to do about that until he was in a black studies class at UCLA during the LA riots of 1992, when he saw the brokenness CAUSED BY racism, the teachings of Jesus, and his academic pursuits ALL converge. He changed his major to black studies and launched himself on a journey of learning from peers AND TEACHERS of color, and finding his place in the mission of Jesus to restore the shalom of God's kingdom. Scott is married to Jenny, and has twin children in their teens.
